A Skissedilla Quickie

Hey All,
Just thought I would share a LO that I did for Sketch #177 over at Skissedilla. This is the first time I have given this Sketch Challenge site a go, I generally find it very hard to "stick" to a sketch once I get going!!
But Hey, thats the nature of a challenge right? So I gave it a shot whilst trying to channel my inner minamalist!
Here is the sketch:
undefined

And here is my take on that sketch.... think a little out of the box! The subject of the page is my gorgeous girl "Shyloh".

All the chippies are Scrap FX
I started by turning the sketch around a little I guess you could say! (told you I struggle). The background I did a little experiment with embossing powders. And yes I manged to get a feather in there on a dog page, go figure!!!

The letter stickers are from Studio Calico, combined with
Chippies: Mini Retro Flower and Dog Wordlet Theme Pack make up the Title.
I just gave the Frame a spray and added a splash of Gesso.

A cluster of bits and pieces sprayed over with
Calico White Mister Hueys ties it all together.
I just had to add some Washi Tape and my own "Scribble" to finish it off. At this point I had to try not to "overdo" as I was going for a bit of a minimalist look.... another thing I struggle with..... knowing when to STOP!!!

Along with the feather thing I cannot seem to do a page without a bit of tangled thread!
Well that is about all from me, thanks for dropping by,
See you all again soon!

123 September Challenge

Back again!!! Oh, I have been busy. It would seem the challenges this month have been super inspiring!
This time I have my take on the 123 challenge:

WORD: MAN or MEN
COLOUR: GREY
TECHNIQUE:
use something METAL

You don't have to talk me into using the colour Grey at all, naturally I could not resist giving this a go!

My 3 boys!!!
I started off with my brand new stencil from Crafters Workshop that I was dying to use. I did a smear of Gesso randomly across the stencil first, then, without lifting the stencil sprayed away with a few colours of Mist from Tattered Angels and Lindy's Stamp Gang.
The page just evolved from there all by itself, I really did not think about this one too much at all, just one of those days where everything I threw at it just worked!

You can see all the chippy goodness here.
All the chippies are Scrap FX of course, the wordlet is a newbie hot off the lazer! The rest are oldies but goodies that I just love! Most are just sprayed with Mist or I used some Mica Paint, one coat and they were done!

Found this quote on Pinterest, a great way to get lost in time!
The metal bits are Tim Holtz gears and spinners,  I have been bonding with them for ever. Thought it was time to start using them.....I do feel a sense of lost though....(Oh I am loosing it!) The paper clips are also in that same boat and are from 7 Gypsies.

This is the new wordlet, I think it could be used
for so many themes and I love the fonts used!
I am back to strips! Again?! I know, so shoot me!
What goes with the strip thing best? Washi Tape that's what! The grey chevron (from Sawyers Place) suited the theme so well.

I guess I have come to the end of this post hope all is well for everyone out there in cyber space, thanks so much for visiting my little corner of it!

September Scrap the Boys Share

Ok another challenge done, this time for the September Scrap the Boys. The inspiration was this:

undefined
Yes Ink splats!!!! How could I resist getting down and "dirty" for this one????
So here is what I have come up with, a page with my youngest Bayley and some words of wisdom from his Mum!

Used some brand new ScrapFX chippies here.
Just love the flourishy feather!
My background is a combination of paint, Gesso and mists with a feather stamp thrown in for good measure!

Could not resist using the feather just love it to bits! I sprayed it with the mists then splashed on some gesso, because I love mess!

I used the feather as a stencil first, then added it to the page. I tell you it withstood so much punishment because I also used it as a mask to make a few cards prior to doing this page and it still looks as good as new!

No page of mine is complete without a few scribbles here and there.

Those Mini retro flowers are back again! The only flowers I am able to get away with when it comes to scrapping the boys!!! They really do not care for "pretty". I "oversprayed" more gesso onto the misted flowers and the button cluster because the buttons were really not quite right!

Itty Bitty Typewriter Alphas, I always come back to time & time again!
The quote I found on the internet, I do love to use quotes for photos that are just random rather than just record "events".

The "nest" here is actually a holly christmas wreath, but I liked it so much I had to repurpose it!
Well that's about it for now, off to find another cool challenge!
Thanks for dropping in and having a look see!

"September Challenge at Kraft it Up"

Hello to All,
I thought I would get back into entering a few challenges this month to see if that improves my Mojo that has been a sadly lacking of late!
So the first one that appealed was the colour challenge over at Kraft It Up.

I love how challenges push you out of your comfort zone and this one certainly did fit the bill.
This shade of  Green puts me out of that zone for sure!

Here is what I came up with:

The photos are of Syd my brothers' "puppy" who I met for the first time while we were in the States recently. He is one BIG playful Boy!

I used a Wordlet from Scrap FX that I just adore with loads of paint and  Dylusions ink to add the green.

The stencil is Crafters Workshop called Solace I think.

And what is a page without a touch of Washi from Sawyers Place? In actual fact that check Washi was the only correct shade of green I had! I sprayed the buttons with the Dylusions ink and they came up a treat once dry!

Then I just played with the thread until I felt it was messy enough, and I was done.
Thanks for stopping by,
HUGS,

A new ScrapFX Chippie Share

A Big Hello to all,

I have created a page with some of the brand new Scrap FX chippies that I thought I would share with you today!

This month is "Animal" month over on the ScrapFX Blog with the DT  busy creating with all things feathered and furry! I was so in love with the new feathers that I had to use them straight away. I have so many ideas running through my head using these beauties, I am sure I will be getting myself more.

So this is the first creation using the feathers and a super cute wordlet. I can assure you there will be more layouts to follow as there is a super gorgeous flourishy feather I did not use!

Used the ScrapFX  feather chippies, wordlet, journal notes in Kraft, &
MME patterned paper and woodgrain Washi.
The photo was taken during our summer break down at Phillip Island in January. We would sit and watch these cuties every morning feeding on the nectar of the flowering gum near the front balcony.

The leaves are just cut outs of the patterned paper.
Used the same mist on the feathers then added
a tinge of Mica paint in a rust colour.
Love the Journal notes that come with a few varieties in each pack, they also come in White and Manilla.

The title was coloured with Mica paint then
I added a little white Gesso with my finger
to make it stand out a little better.

So if you have a hankering to star your furry friend in your next layout, I am sure you will find some divine inspiration over on the Scrap FX Blog in the coming weeks. Be sure to check out all the new lines that are featured this month!!!

Hugs to all,
