Art Journal Play!

Hi Everyone,
I have had very little time to Blog lately because I have been a little obsessed with playing in my art Journal!
So here is a warning....this is a long post with lots of pics!
So without further ado this is what I have been doing lately, you may even see a theme.....Music....I was really inspired by the latest release by Scrap FX!

Page 1:

I used the lace as a stencil again with the left over gold impasto I used for my video tutorial a few posts back. I really hate to waste left over paint and will often just smash it on another journal page to use it up!

I used old telephone book pages in the background, I love how thin they are and they are full of lovely text. Once again the Music Collage Stamp from Scrap FX made an appearance!
Finished with a Dina Wakley girl and a Tim Holtz Quote Stamp.

 Page 2:

Used more of that Gold Impasto, this time with the Marrakech Stencil by Scrap FX on a printed tissue background.

Lots of stamps, ink and gorgeous bright paint!

And yes, that music collage stamp features yet again!

Page 3:

New colour scheme this time and look ....no gold (must have run out)!
I painted the background with my fingers then used white paint with the foam stamp to create a "ghost" effect.

I randomly used a Tim Holtz Background script stamp over the paint to finish the background.

The Treble Clef is a new release chipboard piece, that I fell in love with! I painted it black and added a touch of white.
Finished it all off by using an old alpha stamp and some letter Stickers from my stash, then some of my own scrawl.

Page 4:

Last one I promise! No music this time!

This one was a very quick one playing with paint, stencils and a stamp or 2!

I really just threw stuff on the page for this one and used a sponge to apply the black Gesso over a Scrap FX Stencil. The small amount of texture is light molding paste through another stencil.

The text is a Donna Downey Stencil and the hand is a Tim Holtz Stamp.
And that is all, so glad you made it to the end???
Until next time, do more of what makes you Happy!

Scrap Around the World Challenge

Back again to share my page created for the challenge this month over at Scrap Around the World. The moodboard was fabulous take a look for yourself:

I was particularly drawn to the colours and the muted feel to the board.
So without further ado here is my LO:

I used a fabulous image found on Pinterest but could not find the original creator, to give credit where it is due, but I think it is an awesome image so had to scrap it!

Used a new wordlet by Scrap FX as well as the heart and mini music notes chippies. All have been given the gold treatment using Stampendous Embossing Enamel except for the mini notes that I just painted black after I felt you could overdo the gold thing!

There is plenty of texture and layers going on with texture paste, lace and other bits and pieces that just happened to be on my table. The colour is care of some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.

The other embellishments I used are Graphic 45 chipboard buttons that I altered with a touch of the enamel. And that my friends is about it from me, hope you like it!
Hugs to all!

Kraft Plus August Challenge.

So the challenge for this month at Kraft Plus is to doodle or zentangle on your layout. Now I did try to "do" precise like a zentangle demands, but it just was not ME! So I hope my scratchings on my LO qualify as a doodle instead!!!

Having said that, I did have a lot of fun doing this challenge. The resulting LO did not turn out quite the way I expected but I do like my "scrawls", take a little peek at them in the close ups first:

I started with a scrape of white Gesso, then went to town with some watercolour. I then proceeded to scribble away using the watercolour as a guide for shape and form.....no really I did just scribble!!

I added little touches of gold metallic paint to give some dimension and add colour. I continued with the gold using the doilie die cut from Prima and some glitter paper.

The chippie is a new Scrap FX flourish that I cut into 2 pieces and gave it a little embossing treatment.
And here is the actual full page:

The Title is a mini wordlet which I also embossed then splashed a little of the teal colour I used on the background for a tinge of colour.
So that is about all! A very restrained LO for me, I did manage to keep it minimal (by my reckoning)!
Thanks for dropping by!

The Sound of Music

Have you taken a peek at the new products over at Scrap FX
I have to say I love all the music themed gear and now have a new favourite stamp, that I have used on just about everything I have touched this month, so the next few posts could have a common element....just sayin'!
So I thought I would show a page I did for Scrap FX this month.
Here 'tis:

I am loving using the black card as a background for a change, it makes the colours and the photo really  pop!

The photo features my eldest, who seriously is musically challenged. However he did volunteer for photos when my youngest (who has had all the expensive lessons) refused (story of my life when it comes to the boys.....gotta pick my moments!)

So as you can see I started with a good spattering of Gesso, then a splash of colour using Lindy's Sprays. Then I went to town with that stamp I was telling you about earlier..... Scrap FX Music Collage Stamp....do yourself a favour....get your hands on one....it is awesome!
I have used it here with black StazOn and did a little embossing with the gold enamel by Stampendous as well to make the pattern pop!

I also outlined the embossed images with a white Posca Paint pen to make them a little more dimensional.

Then we come to my favourite chippy of the release...Music Symbol Collage! It complements the stamp perfectly. All I did with it was a coat of Gesso and a splash of the sprays I used on the background and a smattering of the embossing enamel!

The title is an equally awesome Wordlet that I cut to fit my needs!
And the LO was done!!
Hope you like it, till next time, Happy Scrappin'!!!

My First Video! Art Journal Tutorial

Hi everyone...as promised (many times), I have finally made my first video!
Please be kind, I am wearing L plates, the next ones can only get better right?
I will learn to stay in the frame, if it kills me!
Here is the project and the video at the bottom of this post, I hope you enjoy parts of it and it motivates you enough to give Art Journalling a go!

It is difficult to see the texture on the video so here are a few closer shots to show how awesome the paste works with the lace as a stencil, creating lovely texture.

Love how the Starburst Sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang add two toned colour to projects, I have tried to get a shot of it here for you.

Well on with the show, so proud of myself and loved working the video thing out under the watchful eye (lots of eye rolling at my ignorance when it comes to technology) of my little fella'.
Thanks Bay for all your help I will get better each time, I promise! XXX
